Opportunities in the Biological Control Lab
Prospective Postdoctoral Candidates
The BCCL Lab currently has openings for 3 funded postdoctoral positions specializing in three specific topic areas, respectively : 1) biological control of transcriptional processes utilizing methods in supercoiling, 2) systems and parts level design of insulation strategies for novel genetic landing sites, and 3) development of new measurement methods for monitoring supercoiling in transcriptionally active DNA (both in vitro and in vivo). If interested, please submit a CV and a statement of purpose to Professor Yeung at eyeung@ucsb.edu.
Prospective PhD Students
We are looking to recruit 2 Ph.D. students this coming academic year. We are looking for talented, bright students with a strong background in molecular biology, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or control engineering.
PhD students who are interested in learning more about or performing a rotation in the Biological Control, Computing, and Learning Laboratory (BCCL Lab) should submit a CV and a statement of purpose to Professor Yeung at eyeung@ucsb.edu.
Lab Manager Position
We are actively seeking candidates for a lab manager position. Ideal candidates will possess a background in microbiology, synthetic biology, biology, biochemistry, biological engineering, chemical engineering, or related engineering discipline with a Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of undergraduate-level research experience. If interested, please submit a CV and a statement of purpose to Professor Yeung at eyeung@ucsb.edu.
Prospective Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students are generally encouraged to participate in our research projects. We generally recruit first or second-year undergraduates to work on a project in our lab, to work alongside a senior graduate student. At this time, we do not have any additional undergraduate student research slots.
